GI JOE: Rise of Cobra Movie Review

So I went to the movies to see GI JOE...

I have to say it was entertaining and probably Sommers' best film.
I always thought his movies were always too cartoony, and cast terribly. (WHAT IS HE THINKING WITH BRENDAN FRAISER?) With GI JOE, it kind of works in his favor - this is a movie to sell toys to 10 year old boys who play Xbox and it does it well. Save for one completely useless scene where the JOES don Accelerator Suits only to not be able to catch up with a friggin' SUV. It was a waste of an idea and money with the suits coming off as lame more than anything else. Why would you don a power suit that's slower than a car and can't even stop a car? POINTLESS. I would have rather have seen the suits do something cool or watch Snake Eyes do more cool stuff.

My biggest gripe about the movie is the lack of staple characters from the cartoon and comics.
Where's Shipwreck, Gung ho, Bazooka, Lady Jay, and Flint? (Brendan Fraiser made an appearance in a Flint like uniform- god I hope he's not flint)

For fans the comics and cartoon, they do butcher some things. The Baroness/ Cobra Commander connection to Duke was a typical movie "tie stuff together thing" Its was fine but a bit forced.
I would have liked Cobra Commander to remain a mystery.

Well, the final outcome is that GI JOE is entertaining, and fun.
Is it a great movie? Nope but its not meant to be.

If your willing to watch a dumb cartoon come to life- you'll get what you paid for.
